in the 9th arrondissement, close to the Opera, this charming property has
been completely refurbished in an Italian style and boasts a unique
interior design. The trompe l'oeil murals in the lobby recall 19th-century
Paris. This first-class hotel combines contemporary styling with
traditional French hospitality. The Franklin seduces
immediately by the charm and comfort of its décor. In the splendid
entrance hall, a large trompe-l'oeil fresco painting will transport you
into the calm atmosphere of a French-style garden. On the ground floor,
the rooms open directly onto a delightful patio. In fine weather, it's a
great place for taking it easy, far from the rush of the city life. The
area in the last century was known as "New Athens" because of
its superb town houses inspired by the architecture of ancient Greece. It
was here that many figures in the arts and literature chose to live,
including Chopin, Berlioz, Delacroix and George Sand. The painter
Toulouse-Lautrec's last studio was located here also. Double-bedded rooms
- each guest room has an office nook, direct-dial phone, cable TV, minibar
and hair dryer.
